The game involves four different colored infections present at each of the four corners of the board. Each infection can duplicate itself in all four directions by one place. Each infection can also jump in all four directions or diagonally by two places. The jumps or duplications can only be made when there are no other rival infections in the position where the jumping or duplication is to be done. The problem lies with the rules of the game, as it would take a lot of playing time to know how the infections multiply and affect other infections. The basic idea is that when an infection is moved along the board, all the other infections in close proximity (there can be a maximum of 8) are affected and change their color to the color of the moving infection. The infection that has maximum representation when the board is filled completely wins the game.

The plague game lacks not just a tutorial but any customization option as well. You can't control the background music or its volume and this is another feature that needs to be added as it can be quite irritating.
